Aaah, there is justice in the Art World, or at least in the Art Market… after that incredible auction of modern art at Sotheby’s London in September this year, where Damian Hirst’s Golden Calf was sold for more than 10 million pounds, there has been an impressive turnover in the evening sale at Sotheby’s New York last Monday, 3rd November 2008, where Impressionist’s pictures such as Munch’s Vampire were sold for several million pounds. It’s a relieve to see that at least some master paintings are still selling for more than an artificial Hirst product.
